Letter from Head of School

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the Montessori School of Manhattan. I hope you are able to easily find the information that you are looking for within our website.
At MSM, you will discover a warm, welcoming community. Our school environment and curriculum provide children ages 2 to 6 with a life-long love of learning. Our Montessori teachers are certified in using Dr. Montessori's methods and materials to lovingly guide each child in developing unique abilities within a carefully planned curriculum. Our goal is to provide the learning experiences that allow children to develop the skills to become successful learners within the classroom, and more importantly, to develop self-confidence, independence, compassion, and the sense of responsibility to become successful members of society long after their time at MSM is over.
First-time visitors to our campuses are invariably impressed with the excitement, self-discipline and self-sufficiency of even the youngest child. Using didactic learning materials designed by Dr. Montessori to be responsive to a wide range of interests and skills, children are encouraged to explore a world of ideas, information, and creativity. The Montessori curriculum stresses an interdisciplinary approach to all learning. Students discover a natural excitement for new concepts and ideas within an atmosphere of grace, courtesy and mutual respect.
Supported by one-on-one guidance from their teachers, students work both independently and in small groups with other children. By providing an environment that specifically addresses each child's individual needs, students at MSM enjoy an educational experience that enhances self-esteem, fosters the social skills to solve problems and build friendships, and support the ever-increasing curiosity about the world in which they live.
Parents and community resources contribute to, and further enrich the learning partnership. Parents are encouraged to attend our workshops, participate in the Parents' Association, observe in their child's classroom, volunteer to assist with class projects and field trips, and participate in school-wide events.
At the Montessori School of Manhattan we have the unique opportunity to provide young children with hands-on learning experiences that create excitement, enrichment and unending discovery. I invite you to further explore MSM and all that it has to offer by attending an Open House, or by applying to one of our many programs.
    Mrs. Bridie L. Gauthier
